The advance of fiber optics in the world

Fiber Optics is the alternative for those countries where internet does not exist or there is little infrastructure, because it is not only modernity, but convenience. The speed over long distances makes it a means of data transmission where the smallest binary numbers are converted into LED light.

Fiber optic cable catapults the internet between continents across seas, oceans and lakes. In this sense, it is worth explaining how Fiber Optics is advancing in the world. To make visible and evaluate the feasibility and see how to access global connectivity, especially in the South American continent.

What happens in countries with little or no Internet access?

Technological access is of utmost importance, yet there are countries for which knowing what fiber optics is and how it works is unexplored. The service is limited or non-existent for various reasons, which are described below:

  • The most resounding reason why several countries, especially in Africa, do not enjoy the internet; is the lack of infrastructure for economic reasons.

  • Billing costs prevent citizens from having access to Internet service.

  • Severe restrictions imposed by governments that censor information to their inhabitants, such as China, Eritrea, South Korea, Cuba and Iran.

  • Social and political instability, armed conflicts and climatic events prevent millions of people from having Internet in the world.

Countries with the highest use of Fiber Optics

Therefore, the deployment of fiber optic Internet does not stop, despite great inequalities and human contradictions. However, countries with abundant economic development, for example: in Asia, South Korea and Japan are the first to implement this Fiber.

Likewise, the lucky ones to enjoy high-speed broadband in the European continent is Spain. In which the proportion of connection has increased from 66.7% in 2019 to 79% in 2021, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Even so, in Europe the last to follow the advance of Fiber Optic rates are Germany with 7.1% and Greece with 0.4%.

Thus, the countries that are projected to have the highest installation of this technology is Chile, as the most advanced nation with 56% in its use. Mexico has 33.9% and Colombia 22.1%.

In addition, the United States is with 21.8% in the establishment of fiber internet, which reveals that it is not an oasis in technology.

Finally, both individuals and companies need the world to be more balanced. For better or worse, there is a growing need for internet access to be better distributed.

So far, this option is the fastest, most efficient and secure way to transmit data. With minimal impact on the environment due to the little waste produced in the cabling and unalterable to interferences.

LDNetworks is the future.
